Getting Married in Church - A Church of England Wedding - faith, hope and love.

A Church of England Wedding - Back 'Home' (h)

Welcome to the Weddings Project

The Weddings Project has been been tasked by the Archbishops' Council to develop and support the Church of England's wedding ministry.

All the materials you see below are part of a wider package of training and resources. Some can be used by any parish church for free, but where indicated below, there are some which are only available in two trial areas: the Diocese of Bradford and the Buckingham Archdeaconry of Oxford Diocese.

Resources for you

Good practice guides and more (any CofE parish church can use these resources - free)

1. New: There could be a marriage care advantage to agreeing to a couple's request to have their wedding filmed. To read more, see our latest fact sheet on Top Tips for good Wedding Videography.

2. The reasonable and clear guide to charging for a wedding.

3. Research for the Weddings Project shows this: When it comes to preparing for marriage, couples prefer a single session. We asked the Revd. Andrew Body, author of Growing Together and Making the Most of Weddings, to devise this single session template. 10 simple steps for thinking about marriage in one session.

4. Be better presented at Wedding Shows: A top ten tips resource for organisers

5. Use our FREE weddings banner ad on your parish web site - an eyecatching way to direct couples straight to www.yourchurchwedding.org. Download it here.

Or, this smaller box design might be more suitable for your site. If you require a different format, please contact Ruth Green at: ruth.green@c-of-e.org.uk

Paper and online resources
(only available to clergy in the trial areas of Bradford Diocese and the Buckingham Archdeaconry of the Oxford Diocese).

1. Wedding Project posters. The Weddings Project team produced two posters to help you promote church weddings where you are. This is because you asked for them when we came to see you last year. Now we need to know how you like them.

We offered a landscape poster (view here)
And a portrait poster (view here)

Please tell us if you're using them, whether you like them, what could be better and give each a mark out of ten. Your comments will help us work out whether we should offer these to the whole church. Email: weddings.project@c-of-e.org.uk, thank you.

2. Have you seen our marriage preparation invitation card and banns invitation card? To order, see below.

3. The Wedding Diary. This online service will help to remind you of when to send your wedding-related greetings and invitation cards to couples. Register at: www.diary.yourchurchwedding.org

4. When one third of couples marry far away from home, can you easily connect them to a church where they live? Yes, you can! All you need to do is give each couple a Referral Card from the Weddings Project when you first meet them. Read more on the referral process, step by step.

5. Resources overview: a summary of resources that have been produced and the timings for using them.

6. Weddings welcome form for you to download:

a) Colour version
b) Black and white/low ink version

7. All those involved in the Weddings Project Guest Test may need extra supplies of our Guest Card for placing in pews at weddings. Here's a copy for you to look at. See below for ordering details.

To order or re-order your Project resources, contact Kadugli House: office@kadguli.org.uk (Bradford) or Weddings Project weddings.project@c-of-e.org.uk (Bucks).

More about the Weddings Project:

1. I am already part of the Weddings Project trial in either the Bradford Diocese or the Buckingham Archdeaconry of Oxford Diocese.

2. I've been contacted by the Weddings Project about a couple marrying in a church outside my parish.

3. I've just heard about the Ceremony Planner and I'd like to know more.
