Our eco-wedding included a rickshaw!

Grace and Steven

Grace and Steven leave church in style!

Grace Hill made quite an entrance to her wedding at St Peter’s Church, Pipe cum Lyde, in Herefordshire. She arrived in a pedicab, which is much like a rickshaw.

Grace said: ‘Lots of people were beeping and waving to us, as we made the mile long journey from home to church.’

Grace and Steven were keen to keep their wedding as simple and environmentally friendly as possible. Her flowers were all from her parents’ garden and the food at the reception was all made by an aunt and mostly locally sourced.

The Vicar, the Revd Jimmy Morrison said: ‘Grace was the first bride I have ever seen arrive on a rickshaw – I was delighted to see such a clean green way of getting to church.’

He went on: ‘There was a real atmosphere of fun and happiness at Grace and Steven’s wedding. This was a service that the couple created and celebrated themselves – it was done with great joy.’

Steven didn’t have a church background, but Jimmy put him at ease straight away and helped him to understand what the church service was all about.

The couple then left in the pedicab and made their way to the reception which was in Grace's parents’ garden under a borrowed church tent, featuring a local band and DJ.
