St Aldates church, in Oxford, has had several couples who held their reception in the church. Kate and Ian Woods catered for almost 200 there, and said the main benefit was the church’s adaptability - having a blank canvas from which they could create a highly personalised ceremony and reception.

Kate said: “St Aldates has a team of staff to manage the wedding from start to finish. After the all-important ceremony the church became a beautiful banqueting venue and after that, floor space was created for a céilidh, which included space for the band and a bar.

“It reduced our reception costs significantly, gave us greater flexibility with food and décor and our guests really appreciated that parking and travelling were kept to an absolute minimum.

"The day flowed seamlessly and with the impressive architecture of the church as our backdrop, we couldn’t have asked for a more splendid occasion.”
