Cost saving tips
It’s not how much you spend on a wedding that makes it special, but the investment you are making in your relationship. A tight budget shouldn’t stand in the way of that.
In fact, to simply marry in church, all that is legally required will cost less than £350. These days, people are spending in excess of £20,000 on the whole day.
Yet imaginative ideas to save money can also add more meaning into the day. Borrowed antique veils, or jewellery, for example, can involve your family from down the generations.
But even if you decide you’d like to include popular wedding traditions in your day, savvy shopping can mean you don’t have to spend a fortune.
The big five wedding expenses are usually the reception, the engagement ring, the wedding dress, photography and video, and the honeymoon, which together normally take up about 75% of the wedding budget. Keep these five under tight control and you will not go too far off budget. (Source: Weddings on a Budget by John Haslam, See www.modernwedding.com.au for more information).
